Snowbird Reskin
One of the first tasks I was challenged with when I began working at Snowbird as the Interactive Marketing Manager was to freshen up the look of the main Snowbird site. A new site was in the wings the following spring and in the meantime it was deemed necessary to reskin the homepage. The following spring it was decided to upgrade the ecommerce portion of the site and save the content portion until the following spring so this reskin had to go a little further than expected. Happily, the new ecommerce/store site performed like a champ and made the powers that be very happy.
After assessing the old homepage I decided that we needed to be able to present more relevant information in a more timely fashion. The top slideshow reflects this and has proven to be a successful implementation. Also, I added the Twitter feed to show the word that Snowbird was playing the Social game. Later I had a new slideshow built to display the all important Photo Of The Day feature that uses Flickr’s API to do the heavy lifting.
Given the budget that I was allotted, this was the most applicable solution to the problems that the “old” site was experiencing. Sadly, it still looked like a NASCAR car as I wasn’t able to touch the architecture.
As the caretaker of this site for over 1 1/2 years I became extremely familiar with Google’s Analytics as well as learned a great deal about project management. By far, this is the most complex site I have ever experienced.
